What is the starting salary for a BMJ Summer Associate?

$1200/week

How many Summer Associates does BMJ hire?

BMJ generally hires 2 to 4 summer associates per year, depending upon business needs. We select our associates with the intention of being able to make Associate offers to all successful summer candidates. For this reason, our ideal summer candidates are those with a long-term interest in the Fresno area.

What types of projects will a Summer Associate work on?

A summer associate can expect to work with a number of different attorneys and experience many different areas of the Firm’s practice. Although a summer associate will primarily be asked to do various legal research projects over the course of the summer, the Firm makes sure that all summer associates have ample opportunities to be exposed to courtroom procedure, depositions, and other lawyering experiences not generally found in the classroom.

How will I know how I'm doing? What is the evaluation process?

The Summer Associate program provides ample opportunity for informal feedback. In addition, formal reviews are conducted at both the midpoint od the Summer program and the completion of the program.

Does the Firm have a mentorship program? What does it entail?

Incoming summer associates are assigned two mentors: an associate mentor and a shareholder mentor. A summer associate’s mentors are available to provide support and guidance on a wide range of matters, including substantive and administrative issues.
