HEALTH CARE LAW

Our health care attorneys represent medical providers in all professional rights and licensing matters, including credentialing and peer review disputes, due process hearings, and qualitative and quantitative privilege disputes. We also represent providers before professional associations and regulatory agencies, such as the Medical Board of California, California Medical Review, Inc., the Health Care Financing Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, California Department of Health Services, the Office of Inspector General and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Contracting Issues:

We assist medical providers in forming, structuring, and restructuring medical groups and professional corporations. We represent providers in their dealings with hospitals and integrated delivery systemsin connection with employment and independent contractor arrangements.

Regulatory Compliance and Governmental Affairs:

Our health care attorneys advise physician and other medical provider clients in a wide range of regulatory matters, including federal and state health care regulatory programs, fraud and abuse compliance and defense, self-referral legislation, antitrust issues, payment and reimbursement, and Medi-Cal (Medicaid) and Medicare.

Medical-Legal Ethics:

We provide legal counsel to physicians and patients in matters regarding health care treatment decisions and related disputes with payers. These matters have included proceedings before medical ethics committees, disputes regarding clinical practice guidelines and disputes concerning utilization review and approval of provider referrals.

Managed Health Care and Contracting: Our health care attorneys are experienced in representing medical providers and patients in managed health care issues, including contracting disputes, provider compensation issues and right to, denial of, and amount of treatment issues. Our attorneys, either as regular counsel or special health care counsel, are called upon to prepare, review, revise, and negotiate health care contracts of every description.
