Mikael Paul Johnson

Mr. Johnson recently joined the firm and will focus his practice in the areas of corporate business, general business, estate planning, and trust and estates.

Background

After graduating from the University of San Diego School of Law, Mr. Johnson served as a Judge Advocate in the US Navy on active duty for 8 years and continues to serve as a reservist. During his active duty career, he served in a variety of roles, including criminal defense, disability advocacy, and legal assistance and basic estate planning. He ultimately sought out and specialized in the areas of operational law and the law of armed conflict. In that capacity he was assigned to various units conducting conventional combat, stability, and full-spectrum special operations, including deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and East Africa. Currently, Mr. Johnson is a member of a reserve legal unit providing direct operational support to the Commander, US Pacific Fleet.

After leaving active duty, Mr. Johnson assumed the role of General Counsel for a local family-owned agricultural company.  There, he acquired significant experience in a broad spectrum of agribusiness and general business issues, including human resources and employment law, food safety and product liability, negotiated supply-chain agreements, real property, corporate governance and policy development, food safety, and insurance design and claims management.
